Spreading the Gospel: The Most Important Thing We Can Do

Spreading the Gospel Blog title with Bible in background

Let me begin this post by stating that I firmly believe there is nothing we can do to repay Christ for His sacrifice at Calvary. However, I do think there’s something very important that we should be doing for Him: telling others the gospel.

In Mark 16:15, Jesus says, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. This commission is for all disciples of Jesus, including us. We need to go out and share the gospel. But too often, we keep it to ourselves.

In Matthew 9:37, Jesus says, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; I think that’s even more true today. Many times we become comfortable and complacent simply following the routine when there’s so much more to our relationship with Jesus. Not only does God desire a personal relationship with us, He also wants us to share His love with others. After all, why keep such a wonderful gift to ourselves?

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t done as much as I could. I have let doubt, fear of rejection, and simple complacency keep me from sharing the gospel. And I even have become so focused on what I want from God that I forget what He’s asked of me. But I want to do better. I want to be better. Because sharing the gospel isn’t just about telling others about Jesus. It’s also about living for Him and showing people the difference between a life with Him and a life without Him. It’s about showing His love and shining light in the darkness (Matthew 5:16).

So let’s get out there and tell others about Jesus.
